Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy Massage is a deeply therapeutic treatment which combines the use of essential oil blends with traditional massage techniques to profoundly affect us on all levels. Essential oils are complex mixtures of different compounds extracted in various ways from plants. Different essential oils contain different molecules, and in different concentrations, each providing a unique profile and character.
Scent affects us on a very subconscious level, altering our moods, and has a profound link with our memories and imagination. This is how essential oils can help us mentally and emotionally.
When the aromatic molecules are inhaled, they travel to our lungs where they are absorbed into the bloodstream. When inhaled, certain molecules can pass the blood-brain barrier, affecting our limbic system directly and quickly; this is the part of the brain that helps handle deep innate functions such as emotion and memory, as well as heart rate and blood pressure.
When applied to the skin essential oils are absorbed directly through the dermis and also via the hair follicles, sweat glands and sebaceous glands where they can enter the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems.

Essential oils have an astounding variety of properties such as helping to relive pain, stopping and preventing muscle spasms, killing or inhibiting the spread of pathogens, as well as uplifting our mood, soothing our emotions, reducing blood pressure and so much more.
Benefits of Aromatherapy Massage

Certain essential oils such as eucalyptus and rosemary have anti-inflammatory properties so can help with pain and soreness.
-
Essential oils like ylang ylang and clary sage are hypotensive, so they lower blood pressure and have a regulatory effect on the heart.
